Finished
Here is the finished piece.
An idea I have been trying out for a while and this is the first decent one I have made. Composition and simplicity are current themes that interest me and this is the result of my thoughts.
Your work is inspirational Mark. I'd love another photo to gain a little perspective of the centre piece, it's doing my head in trying to work out what's going on!
Thank you for taking the time to comment. This is the only picture I will be posting of this piece at this time. More will come later.
The center sphere is merely a sphere of the same wood as the base. I have sourced some mirror spheres and was playing around with a reflection to emulate the mirrors by using software rendering.
People have commented about my use of bamboo leaves that that they are not permanent, shrivel and change colour. This is my intention but it got me thinking about how we view work.
IE, is the fact that we take a picture or produce a painting of a beautiful country scene in the summer mean that when the season has passed the picture or painting is no longer valid.?
Does our work have to actually exists in a solid form or is a photograph/picture/painting as relevant.?
If I burn this piece does it mean it was any less valid or attractive just because it no longer exists.
I am also currently working on more 2d pictures which I find as interesting as working in the solid. So from a creative perspective I am looking at this and seeing where these thoughts take me.
My first comment was lost somehow so I'll give a shorter version. It's great to see you finding new ways to express yourself. Change is exciting and if we don't move on we might as well not bother. Looking forward to more of your new work.

Hi Mark.
I love this piece .The contrast between the base and the bowl tied together by the ball really works for me.

Hi Rosemary
Lovely to hear from you and I hope you are well.
Thanks for taking the time to comment. It is hard to move on not knowing if it will work, not trying though I guess is a bigger failure.
Hopefully I can get stuck into it soon.
Take care
